The proof of sonship and belonging to God would be the indwelling Holy Spirit Himself (Romans 8:9b). They would be sealed with the Holy Spirit as God’s very own.
Born again and Spirit led, the sons of God would be able to live as the salt and light with power on earth:
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).
“In whom ye also trusted, after that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13).
The church, made up of both Old and New Testament saints, Jews and Gentiles, were at this pre-creation era chosen to be God’s very own – chosen to be a peculiar treasure (1 Peter 2:9).
God fore-chose and fore-fixed the destiny and the inheritance of the church from the beginning of creation:
“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Mathew 25:34).
“In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will” (Ephesians 1:11).
History may set the age of the church at two thousand years, but it pre-dates history. The church was chosen in Christ before the earth was made and before Israel was chosen in history (Acts 7:38).
Also, embodied in these dateless arrangements was the restoration of all things by Jesus Christ. At a future great event known as the glorification of the sons of God, creation or nature shall be delivered from its current bondage to corruption.
Through the one-time sacrifice of Jesus Christ, damage to nature as a result of sin and the wickedness of mankind shall be done away with forever. Through Him, God would reconcile unto Himself all things in His universe – things in heaven, on earth and under the earth:
“For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; and, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven” (Colossians 1:19-20).
Now, see the overall master plan for the universe:
“And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all” (1 Corinthians 15:28).
Beloved, can you, from all that you have read so far, see the wisdom of God?
His ways are past finding. God is not only powerful and omniscience, but infinitely wise. God operates unspent. He never sleeps nor slumbers and is immutable.
Here is a Bible quotation I have come to love and respect:
“Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One” (Isaiah 40:12-15,18,21,22,25).
All that was needed to secure eternal salvation and redemption for mankind were at this dateless past completed and sealed before creation began.
In the sight of Him, who “Calls things which be not as though they were, the order of things were forever set even before man was formed and made (cf. Romans 4:17).
The surprise concerning these pre-creation arrangements is that, anyone who reads the bible even for the first time would not take long to notice that none of these pre-creation arrangements are openly revealed in the creation chapters of the book of Genesis (Genesis is the first book of the Bible).
In the first two chapters of the creation narratives, God rested from all His labors on the seventh day without any mention of His dateless arrangements. The reason, they were kept secret in Christ with God. Why? Here is the Bible answer:
“And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ. According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Ephesians 3:9,11; cf. verses 1-12).
“To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God” (Ephesians 3:10).
They were kept secret in Christ with God to be revealed at the appointed time.
The apostle Paul rightly calls them “mystery:”
“Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints” (Colossians 1:26).
“Now to him that is of power to establish you according to the gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world begun” (Romans 16:25).
The good news is that they are no longer secrets or mysteries because they have been revealed. It is the Gospel we preach and write about – like this book:
“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory” (1 Corinthians 2:7).
The prophets of old prophesied that Jesus Christ when he comes to earth would utter” things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world” (cf. Mathew 13:35b).
He would speak of things which were put in place by God before the world began. The present chaos and rebellion of mankind is no surprise at all to God. God is still the sovereign God. He has not lost control of His universe.
To be more candid and truthful, man would not end the world, only God can, but He has chosen not to. Instead, God would bring every human word and deed to judgment, punish the wicked, reward the righteous and restore the earth to its former beauty and glory.
The world would never end; it shall be restored to its premier glory and beyond at God’s own appointed time:
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea (cf. Revelation 21:1).
Then, from henceforth, the universe would continue forever in righteousness and truth under the reign of Jesus Christ and God.
Unfortunately, I may have to stop here and then continue another time. But before I do that, here is a brief summary.
God in His infinite wisdom and foreknowledge prior to the creation of the worlds appointed Jesus Christ as the last Adam, and the only Savior of His would-be human race through the first man Adam.
Spiritually, creation and the order of things were all completed long before any one of them physically came into being.
Many thanks for reading.
